Bibleisms

Where in the bible does it say to stand up and assert yourself if someone offends you? I’m not saying we should be doormats, but telling people off? Doesn’t Jesus want us to turn the other cheek? God will stand up on our behalf if we are treated wrongly.

Romans 12:19 says “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,”says the Lord.”

Look at 1 Peter 2:18-23:

“Servants, be submissive to your masters [earlier it references governmental leaders, too] with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh. For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering, wrongfully. For what credit is it if when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow his steps: “Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth.” Who, when he was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously...”

Jesus only got angry when someone profaned His father, not His cooking or his beard (although I’m pretty sure both were pristine). He destroyed the temple where people were using God as a marketing strategy (Matthew 21:12). The only time we should get riled up is when someone profanes the name of our God. Taking flack from someone and saying nothing mean in return doesn’t make you a wimp; it proves your strength and makes God look good. In being obedient to Him, you’re glorifying Him. So the next time someone irritates you at work, or your little sister bugs you, remember to turn the other cheek (non-sarcastically, of course).

"You didn’t create yourself, so there is no way you can tell yourself what you were created for."

Rick Warren

I love the similarities to Christianity it has in the final season. The man in black, disguising as “an angel of light”, the “crucifixion” of the savior, the recruitment of men and women to one side or another, the mistakes, forgiveness, and belief despite a lack of understanding. I wish there were more shows like this. I can’t wait to finish it!

I've had many tumblr accounts. Some have been better than others. Recently, I've been studying more deeply into the bible, and I've come to understand that I need to be sold out for Christ. This blog will allow me to do just that. I'll post pictures, videos, songs, etc like normal, but I'll leave comments or verses to keep myself (and hopefully all of you!) in the right mindset. An idea like this doesn't just pop into anyone's head, so "Thanks, God!" :)
